Finbar is a British/Irish filmmaker, currently residing in London. He's been shooting, directing, producing, editing, you name it, for as long as he can remember. His work ranges from commercial and film, to music video, documentary and online content.
He directs and produces film projects through his company Umbra Motion Picture Company, with a focus on bending and defying genre -what's the point of making something that can be easily labelled??
Finbar's most recent short film as director The Whole World Blind (Or: The Ballad of The Cuck and The Eunuch) premiered at Hollyshorts in LA in 2023. His feature as producer 'To Nowhere' had its theatrical release in June 2023 to critical acclaim. In their 4-star review, The Guardian described the film as "a remarkable bit of drama – charged and slippery like an electric eel."
He is also producing feature documentary film 'A Distant Call' which was won multiple production grants and is currently in post-production. A Distant Call was presented at Docs-In-Progress at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, where it won the Documentary Association of Europe Award.
Finbar has also presented his projects at Sheffield DocFest, DMZ Industry and Docs By The Sea, the Points North Fellowship among others.
