Finbar has been directing, producing, shooting, editing, you name it, for as long as he can remember. His work ranges from commercial and film, to music video, documentary and online content.
His film projects focus on bending and defying genre - what's the point of making something that can be easily labelled??
He recently won Young Arrows 2026 Student Commercial of the Year for 'Diso - Your Potential Needs Energy', and was also nominated for One Recovery Bucks - 'The Choice' - created as part of part-time post-graduate diploma in Directing Commercials at the National Film & Television School for live clients.
Finbar's most recent short film as director The Whole World Blind (Or: The Ballad of The Cuck and The Eunuch) premiered at Hollyshorts in LA in 2023. His feature as producer 'To Nowhere' had its theatrical release in June 2023 to critical acclaim. In their 4-star review, The Guardian described the film as "a remarkable bit of drama – charged and slippery like an electric eel."
He also produced feature documentary film 'A Distant Call' which won multiple international awards & production grants including the Documentary Association of Europe Award at Docs-In-Progress at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The film had its world premiere in the International Spectrum competition at Hot Docs 2026, European premiere at Visions Du Réel 2026.
Finbar has also presented his projects at Sheffield DocFest, DMZ Industry and Docs By The Sea, the Points North Fellowship among others.
